Objectives

Real world impact

NGSAC brings together researchers, industry experts, and standards participants to examine security issues in next-generation mobile systems and translate research findings into practical input for standards development to advance real world impact.

Motivation

Why NGSAC is needed

Academic research has produced a large body of work on mobile network security, from subscriber privacy and authentication to radio access and core network security. Yet the path from research results to real standards impact has often been limited.

One reason is structural: 3GPP standards development is member-driven, and technical discussions take place in closed meetings that most academic researchers do not attend. As a result, strong research findings do not always reach the standards process in a timely or actionable form.

NGSAC aims to address that gap by creating a focused forum where researchers, industry experts, and 3GPP participants can review security developments, identify research with standards relevance, and translate technical insight into practical recommendations, public reports, and liaison-oriented inputs for next-generation mobile systems.
